Kelvington Walking Trails

The Kelvington Walking Trails mission is to encourage activity and healthy recreation for community members of all ages .
The main objectives are: to develop walking trails around the community of Kelvington. The development area includes around Prouse Lake and beside the Kelvington Kids Park along Railway avenue. Total anticipated length of walking trails is 2.3 KM.
The project re-started in 2014 and .6km of trail has been developed along Railway avenue to date.
Sponsorship of benches and Tables at the Kids Park and along the trail along with placement of a gazebo in collaboration with the Economic Development Committee has also been done. Trails along Prouse Lake are marked with posts and lights and development will continue as funding is available.
Committee meets minimum of 4 times per year and 1-2 working bees are done yearly for maintenance and development. A second objective is to improve the Kelvington Kids park by adding wheelchair accessible bathroom facilities, a picnic area and improving drainage to the existing park. This park is central along the walking trails and will provide a safe and protected rest area for trail and park users. Trail development is to be done with consideration for the natural habitat around Prouse Lake. Nesting areas and trees planted by the original walking trail committee are an example of this.
